To evoke, intrigue, and challenge the mind . . .
Esther Kong Lo is a figurative sculptor whose formative studies at Pratt Institute and further training under prominent artists Tony Antonio, Gary Sussman, and Rhoda Sherbell have shaped a practice rooted in dynamic storytelling. Her background in design, art direction, painting and photography adds visual depth to her sculptures, allowing her to explore a wide range of techniques and concepts. She regularly poses for her own work, drawing on her experience as a dancer to investigate the expressive possibilities of movement and gesture. Her sculptures embody an ethos of emotional authenticity, stemming from the immersion she undertakes in each subject's narrative.
Esther is a Signature member of American Artists Professional League, and an Elected member of Allied Artist of America and Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. Her works have been included in major national juried exhibits and are collected in the U.S. and abroad.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My mission as an artist is to transcend boundaries and unravel the essence of the human spirit. Through intertwining formal considerations of proportion and balance with conceptual nuances, I depict the emotional breath of my subjects in a manner that resonates on both aesthetic and philosophical levels. By challenging viewers to consider introspective questions about identity, vulnerability and hope, my sculptures forge a space for communal reflection. Every piece stands as an invitation to celebrate the synergy of body and spirit, tradition and innovation, personal narrative and universal longing.
